day 21

day 21:
Faceless Self-Portrait

and just how does one go about that?

well, this is how i went about it.

wish i had my dreads for this pic.

this is definitely me.. as often as possible.

Gertie is 'my precious'

braids.. spoon-ring..hat..

This is me.

day 20

day 20:
in my bag.

the worst one of the month.
i did not care.
i was grumpy that day.
i took 2 pics at the end of the day just so i had done it.
sorry.
not even worth checking out today.

my wallet...
in my bag.

my boy's swimming stuff.
in my bag.
*photos, although nothing interesting, taken with Gertie.

day 19

day 19:
Something I Want

we currently have a volvo wagon..
love the car.
however...

we had 2 Volkswagens before the kids joined our family and
i would love to have one again.

but...
most people who know me
know that i have a dream vehicle.
that vehicle is:

thanks to my friend, Theresa, for letting me take a picture of her car's emblem.
and to my neighbor and friend for letting me photograph her jeep. love it.

day 18

day 18:
Shoes.

i don't enjoy wearing shoes.
so i did footwear instead.

i wear these beauts from when the snow is mostly gone until my feet are too numb to survive two minutes outside.
even in the chill..the rain...i will wear them as long as i can stand it.

and this year i bought myself some comfy cozy slippers.
(thank you value village)

shoes and i do not get along.
(although i do have a sweet pair of brown skate shoes i do love come colder weather)

day 17

Sunday was
day 17:
Technology

sometimes i wish i lived in a time when technological advancement was rare.
was unexpected.

ok..
i don't wish that sometimes.
i wish it more often than not.

when it took years to come out with the 'next best thing.'
instead of weeks.
when that next best thing wasn't actually expected.

on the weekend, Sunday, we took out our (dusty) Super Nintendo and introduced the kids to it.

then we continued with retro sunday and got out our record player.

the kids sat and listened to songs from our childhood.
and flipped the record books.

day 16

just over half way through my challenge.
day 16:
A Good Habit

a good habit?
really?
i have no idea.

then i realized i know what a couple are..
but they're, unfortunately, not mine...
sometimes i'm good at keeping them going.
but, honestly, i struggle with them.

personal quiet time with God.
reading the Bible, spending time in prayer..
but, i did it on friday.
posed for a picture and then actually did it!
you may also see a coffee and bowl of yogurt with chocolate chips and bananas.
that is part 2 of the good habit.
my breakfast.
i make the kids eat every morning.
i usually get too busy.

I have had so many cavities filled.
i hate brushing my teeth.
i love the feel of it when i'm doing it.
i love the feel after i've done it.
but to make me go into the bathroom and brush my teeth is like trying to convince my kids to do it.

so happy when i do it.

what're your good habits?

day 15

day 15:
Silhouette

during breakfast thursday morning i took a photo of the sky and loved the silhouette of the trees.
then i checked out the challenge of the day.

i had my friend's youngest over for the day.
he was great in helping me get my challenge done.
very patient kid.
he made me laugh as he had no idea what i was trying to do.

the kitchen window was good, but i remembered the bathroom window.
so much better.

initially i had wanted dark only,
but the more i saw the soft light accenting his features i decided to not take complete silhouette.

there he is in the planter.
and me..hi..

day 14

day 14:
EYES.

i have a love-hate relationship with the eye.

i love how amazing eyes are.
how they look, how intricate they are.
the colors.
the emotions revealed with them.

i hate having to look into one to find something.
i get nauseous.

day 12

i have a 30 day challenge happening.
i started Oct. 1 with day 1.

rule 1. i do have to stay in order.

rule 2. i will not skip a day just to skip it.
i cannot move onto the next day's challenge without completing the one i missed.

all that to say:

Oct 12, day 12:  challenge was  SUNSET.
while the sun was setting on saturday i was inside the windowless reception hall.
at 6pm i reminded myself to check outside in an hour.
and to capture the sunset whatever it looked like.
around 8pm i remembered and, sadly, asked my husband...
"then sun has already set hasn't it?"
he answered in the affirmative.
he had just been outside in the dark as he and our little boy were taking a break from the noisy reception.

Oct 13, day 12:  challenge was SUNSET.
Thanksgiving dinner.
we were at my parents' apartment.
all day i reminded myself about the challenge.
dinner happened.
next thing i knew i looked out the window at the dark sky.
grrrrrr.

needless to say, i was a little frustrated.
(not that the sunset on sunday would have been spectacular as the sky was completely cloud covered and it was pouring.)
i had now missed 2 days.
Monday October 14th.
we drove home.

day 12:
SUNSET
my husband tidied up the living-room with the kids as i grabbed Gertie and the dog, and went for a walk.

**initially, if i missed a day i was going to make myself start over at day 1 again.
then my wonderful husband reminded me that the purpose of the challenge was to improve on my photography and to have my eyes open for photograph opportunities... to be creative.
so instead of penalizing myself i should just get back onto the challenge and continue where i left off.**

day 13

day 13:
Cannot Live Without

the necessities of life.

AIR.
haha, this photo makes me laugh.
it was a cold morning, i could see my breath..not when you're trying to take a selfie.
the AIR effect didn't work, but i still wanted to share this.

FOOD.

and of course...

WATER

this morning when i asked my boy what something was that i couldn't live without he said
"daddy."
